We are social creatures and from birth we have been in relationship with groups of other people and relied on them for our survival and success. The family in which we were born shaped how we see ourselves and the world. Sometimes our views of other people or of ourselves can become quite negative and it effects how we relate to people in our families, school, workplace, and social groups. Group treatment is an accelerated method of exploring how and why you interact with others the way that you do, and get supportive feedback from others about how it effects them. Armed with this invaluable and unique perspective, you can decide for yourself what aspects of your self you will keep, and through active group work, develop yourself in ways that are true to you and who you would like to become. Success is measured by how the quality of your relationships and well-being in your day to day life have grown and improved. Group is often more affordable than individual treatment, and because it is an accelerated and more advanced method it might not be suited for someone just beginning to explore themselves and their issues in therapy for the first time. Many individual clients eagerly graduate into group treatment as a way to actively apply insights gained in individual therapy, but within an environment that is specifically designed to safely support and enhance their growth.
